2012 Dogwood Arts Festival House & Garden Show Designs for Dining

With all of the bridal shows, open houses and Valentine's Day that we had going on last week you would think that we couldn't fit one more activity into our busy schedule...right? Wrong! We are gluttons for punishment.  The great thing about the Lisa Foster Floral Design team is that one person will come up with an idea and then that idea proceeds to bounce off the walls and from person to person until we have figured out logistics and have a plan. Don't get us wrong, with planning comes trial and error. In the end it always seems our team pulls together for success. This year our ideas for the Dogwood Arts Festival House & Garden Show Designs for Dining came from a little bit of cabin fever and a general love of the color yellow!
Our 2011 tablescape was inspired from an actual Dogwood Artists print that involved lots of moss, river rocks and some birch. This year, they decided to leave it up to the artists to come up with their own creations. So please, close your eyes and image sipping on some Earl Grey tea and nibbling a fresh zesty lemon square, on a spring day. Possibly in a magical forest surrounded by fireflies (our thoughts exactly!). We wanted to do something completely different from last year which helped set us apart. Two colors yellow and white. That was it, simple and clean. We absolutely loved how it turned out and apparently so did everyone else!
We really want to thank everyone on our team for their hard, hard work. Our thanks also extend to our friends who voted for our table, we didn't think we had a chance this year because the competition was so great. Everyone had beautiful tables filled with creativity.

The Challenge for Guys on Valentine's

This post is dedicated to all the guys out there! Many men think that making women happy for Valentine's Day is a challenge but in all reality it's not. Here are a few tips to help you through this holiday dedicated to love.

First and foremost, realize each woman in the world is unique and different. If you love her then you know her better than most... right? Well, here is a thought, do something unique for her! If she loves purple don't get her red roses, get purple. Your sweetheart will notice that you remembered her favorite color and be even more excited about her gift. Or if you can figure out what was in her wedding bouquet maybe get her an arrangement of those flowers (BROWNIE POINTS)!

Second if your girl is health conscience don't go for the heart shaped box of candy. Not only did you throw her diet off, but you have also forgotten she is trying to be good! Women love it when you remember things. Opt instead for maybe a box of chocolate covered strawberries to share. The chocolate level isn't too bad and it's a fruit. We will have some chocolate covered strawberries from Marble Slab! Or forget the chocolate all together and figure out her favorite snack. Some girls love salty more than sweet.

Also, escape the hustle and bustle of dinning out on Valentine's Day. It's a mad house in most restaurants and that doesn't scream romance. How about looking up some yummy recipes online and making her something at home (send the kids to grandma's house!) and open a bottle of wine. Or order take out and pretend it's homemade, just hide the evidence (wink)! She will not only appreciate the night off from cooking dinner but also will be impressed with your new skills with the skillet. Just be careful because she may expect you to start cooking more often!

This Week's EXTREMEly Fun Projects . . .

Normally, after Christmas we have a chance to catch our breath before Valentine's Day and Wedding Season. However, the past week or so we've had projects up to our eyeballs (but in an EXTREMELY great way)! 
For those who haven't read or heard the news volunteers all over Knoxville are joining together to help build a home for a local family with the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  We are so blessed and honored to join together with our friends at Gift and Gourmet to help decorate the VIP tent. Also, we are thankful to be asked to help decorate the finished product (aka the house) with a few flowers as well. What an exciting time to be a part of the Knoxville community! 
We can't reveal too much, but here are a few photos of the VIP tent, muddy leftovers from all of our lovely East Tennessee weather and Lisa and her favorite accessory!

It's The Holiday Season!

The Lisa Foster team is busy, busy out decorating houses for Christmas! Sunday, November 13th we kicked things off right with an almost all-night-er at the Chop House.  We had various teams around the restaurant who hung the garland, lights and ribbons. Then we fluffed and fluffed the bows and trees and wreaths. After six hours we had accomplished the job... Santa's elves have nothing on us!

Our Next goal for both Monday and Tuesday was to tackle our first house! Lucky we had a game plan to get things done as efficiently as possible. It's so fun to get to transform an already beautiful house into a festive Christmas space! Below are just a few of the photos we took after we finished. The Lisa Foster Floral Design team is looking forward to the rest of the houses for this season. Stay tuned because we will surely have more photos.

The MOST Wonderful Time of the Year!

There is a lot going on around the shop lately! We have been decorating for Christmas, shopping for our Salvation Army  Elderly Christmas Stockings, getting a new computer system and of course our weddings!
Its great to be busy and we want to share with you some of the commotion!

First of all Christmas in the shop has arrived (don't worry we haven't forgotten about Thanksgiving) the fall section has just been minimized! We realize it's early but in the world of retail and floral design we have to be ahead of the game.  One side of our shop is Winter Wonderland and the other is Cozy Christmas! We have GREAT gift ideas and are offering FREE wrapping on all gifts over $10.00! You just can't beat it, get your shopping and wrapping done at once! Below are a few photos of the shop but please come by and see us, we love to have visitors.

Our next exciting Christmas activity is the Salvation Army's stocking drive for elderly underprivileged citizens of Knoxville. The Lisa Foster Floral Design Team has a goal of collecting enough necessities to stuff 50 stockings! We have a small stock pile of soaps and things but we are asking our customers to help us with a few odds and ends. The full list of items needed are below.
